How and why to become a Certified Hypnotist?

Here some definitions of Hypnosis.

Hypnosis is a technique that takes you into the Hypnotic State, some times called trance, a state where you are able to access your subconscious mind more easily and accept suggestions more easily.

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness where the subconscious level of the mind is in a state of hyper-suggestibility.

Hypnosis refers to a state or condition in which the client becomes highly responsive to suggestions.
It is the use of Hypnosis in therapy.

Depending of the country, or state, or province, where you live there are different rules and laws regarding who can practice hypnosis or hypnotherapy.

Usually Hypnotists practice Hypnotism and Health Care Professional practice Hypnotherapy. Again … usually, not always, different countries have different laws regarding who can call himself hypnotherapist.
This title was created by The National Guild of Hypnotist, Inc. (NGH).

It refers to a person certified in Hypnosis but he or she is not a Health Care Professional.

Consulting Hypnotist is a title by the NGH to replace Certified Hypnotherapist. To distance the professional of Hypnosis from the ranks of professional counselling such as Psychiatrists and Psychologists.

The idea is to clarify that a Consulting Hypnotist practices Hypnosis, called consulting hypnotism, but do not practice therapy … hypnotherapy.
Hypnosis can help you understand better the mind-body balance.

A Hypnosis Training will give the tools to do that.

Of course you can even learn hypnosis by watching some videos in YouTube, but it is not the same as learning from a professional organization.
There are many excellent profesional organizations, groups and individuals that teach hypnosis. The National Guild of Hypnotists, Inc. (NGH) is one of them.
Location, prestige, reach, experience, years, curriculum, and price.
It goes from several hundreds to thousands of dollars. Some around $700, others around $2,000 or $3,000. Or even more, depends on the number of hours.
Most, between 80 to 300 hours. NGH is 100 hours.
There are many reasons. Some do it for business, or to add to their practices. Or just for knowledge and/or to help friends and family.
Demonstrate expertise. Qualified Trainers. Curriculum. Amount of real practice.
In most countries is a self-regulated profession. Meaning Organizations regulated their members.

Than being said some countries, provinces or states have very specific regulations of who can call herself a hypnotherapist or practice hypnotherapy.
Totally. It is very important to ask for it. Do you want a basic training? A more in depth training? In this point is important to learn the basic first. If you are starting go for the basic first … basic but in depth training and practice.
We believe that you should start in-person. Many courses include a combination of in-person, course work and online.

Yes, you can, and there are some vey good professional in hypnosis in YouTube. That being said, learning is one thing, applying it in a way that it is safe for your clients is another. You must get a Profesional Certification to work with clients.
Yes. Let me ask you … would you drive a car given to you for free, without know why is free, or one you know why you paid the amount you paid. Free is good to learn the basic, for curiosity. A profesional certification is better, for you and your clients.

First it is important to answer the following questions?

What is a Certified Hypnotist?

What is a Certified Hypnotherapist?

Do they all use the same hypnosis, or it is different?

Let’s begin answering the last one … they all use the same technique, hypnosis.

Hypnosis, in a simple definition, is a technique that takes you into the Hypnotic State, some times called Trance, a state of total concentration, a state of high suggestibility.

The Nation Guild of Hypnotists, Inc. (NGH) created the title “Consulting Hypnotist” for those who practice hypnotism, in this case called Consulting Hypnotism, used for Non-Therapeutic hypnosis.

A Hypnotherapist is usually a Health Care Professional that practices Hypnotism, as therapy and is called Hypnotherapy.

A Consulting Hypnotist, a Hypnotist, do not do therapy.

This is very important to clarify to clients. A Consulting Hypnotist has clients. A Hypnotherapist has patients.

So, How long it takes to learn Hypnosis? How do I become a Hypnotherapist?

The technique is very easy to learn, you could learn it in a few hours, learning how to use it in a safe and professional way takes more time, training and experience.

You will find hypnosis training certifications that are between 100 and 300 hours, and some more than that.

At NLP Hypnosis Centre, we use Consulting Hypnotism. We offer a training in Hypnosis, in Consulting Hypnotist, that is 100 hours and it follows the National Guild of Hypnotists curriculum and it is taught by a NGH Certified Trainer.

In my case for, example, it is important to clarify that I, Olivier Hidalgo, practice Consulting Hypnotism, Non-Therapeutic Hypnosis, because my father Olivier Hidalgo, is a Doctor, a Health Care Professional, and some times people who ask me about hypnosis think that they are calling my father.

Is we are taking about practicing Hypnotherapy, using hypnosis as therapy, then of course you must first become a Health Care Professional and we all know it takes much longer.
